Key Stats: DH Jake Cronenworth 1-for-2, 2 R, BB, K; LF Tirso Ornelas 3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 R, RBI; RF Connor Joe 1-for-2, 2 R, 2 BB, HBP; CF Forrest Wall 1-for-3, 2B, SB (4), R, RBI, 2 BB; C Rodolfo Duran 2-for-4, 2B, R, 4 RBI, BB; SS Clay Dungan 1-for-5, HR (2), 3 RBI; LHP Omar Cruz 3 IP, 2 BB, 4 K; LHP Miguel Cienfuegos 2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, K

Prospect Watch: Making his final rehab outing before rejoining the team in Denver, Jake Cronenworth reached base in two of his three plate appearances from the DH role, lining a 97-mph fastball for a single to left. Over his two rehab games in Triple-A, he went 2-for-4 with a home run and four walks. … Omar Cruz got the start and threw three hitless innings. He faced only one over the minimum as he picked off one of the two baserunners he allowed.  The lefty lowered his Triple-A ERA to 1.98 over 13.2 innings. … After taking an oh-fer in his first game back at Triple-A, Tirso Ornelas was back to dominating the minors’ highest level. The 25-year-old had two hard-hit doubles and scored three runs.  While he managed to get only one hit in the big leagues, Tirso is slashing .288/.416/.384 for El Paso.  … Speaking of being back in Triple-A, Connor Joe reached base four times.  In 15 Triple-A games, the 31-year-old has 13 walks against nine strikeouts, and has a .414 OBP. … Ron Marinaccio finished out the game with a perfect ninth inning. He has now allowed one hit over his last four innings, and just one earned run over his last 6.2 innings while striking out six. The 29-year-old righty, who the Padres claimed on waivers this winter, is one of only two members of the 40-player roster who hasn’t been with the big league club yet this season.

Frisco RoughRiders 6,  Missions 1

Key Stats: RHP Enmanuel Pinales 3.1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; RHP Bradgley Rodriguez 0.2 IP, K; RHP Ryan Och IP, 2 H, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The Missions were no-hit for the second time in a month, plating their only run of the night via a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. They then struck out and grounded out to end the inning. It’s the third time the club has been no-hit thru six innings. … Making his Double-A debut, Enmanuel Pinales showed some nerves at the beginning of his 11:00 am start. Pinales walked two of the first three batters, before giving up a bloop double down the line. He later settled down, retiring seven of eight batters, before a bunt and a misplayed fly ball that went for a double ended his night early. The 24-year-old was up to 95 mph on his fastball. … After allowing five earned runs in less than an inning in an outing he left with back soreness, Bradgley Rodriguez has quickly returned to his normal dominant performance. He came in with two men on and quickly got a fly out and strikeout to escape the jam. The hard-throwing 21-year-old has now worked six scoreless innings since the meltdown and allowed just two hits and walk with seven strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .160 against him on the year.

TinCaps 8, South Bend Cubs 4

Key Stats: SS Leo De Vries 2-for-5, R, BB, E (9); 2B Nerwilian Cedeno 2-for-4, 2B, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, SB (4); LF Jacob Campbell 5-for-5, 2B, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI, SB (2); DH Jack Costello 2-for-4, 2B, R, HBP, RBI; RHP Clark Candiotti 5 IP, 3 H, ER, 2 BB, 6 K; RHP Garrett Hawkins IP, 3 K

Prospect Watch: The star of the game was undoubtedly Jacob CampbellThe 24-year-old outfielder was a perfect 5-for-5 as he came a home run shy of the cycle to raise his batting average from .227 to .306 and his OPS from .638 to .831. Not only was it his first five-hit game as a pro, but it was his first time with more than three hits in his three-year minor league career. An undrafted free agent out of Illinois, the right-hander from Wisconsin has emerged as a reliable offensive contributor while moving to the outfield. Nerwilian Cedeno is also in the middle of a strong series. The middle infielder-turned-center fielder has reached base safely seven times in the last two games, including four times Wednesday morning. The 23-year-old only has six extra-base hits in 24 games this year, but his .275 batting average is by far the best of his career.  … It has gotten to the point that Leo De Vries “only” reaching base three times with two hits and a walk is just another game. The 18-year-old phenom now has a 13-game on-base streak and a seven-game hit streakduring which he is 11-for-25, with a pair of doubles, a homer and, perhaps most impressively, eight walks against three strikeouts. He also has nine runs and seven RBI during this hit streak. He did commit his ninth error of the year, throwing wide to first on an easy grounder up the middle. … Clark Candiotti went five innings for the first time and earned his first professional win. Last year’s compensation pick has allowed three hits in three straight outings. After striking out six and walking two, he now has an encouraging 28.8% strikeout rate but troubling 17.8% walk rate in 15 innings.

San Jose Giants 8, Storm 3

Key Statistics: SS Cobb Hightower 1-for-2, R, 3 BB; CF Kasen Wells 1-for-4, RBI, BB; 2B Ryan Jackson 1-for-4, RBI, BB; LF Kaden Hollow 2-for-5; RHP Maikel Miralles 2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The Storm did their best to mimic their parent club, managing 16 baserunners but only scoring three runs due to no extra-base hits. Cobb Hightower led the way, reaching base four times with a single and three walks in his first game in the leadoff spot. The third-round pick is just 2-for-13 in the early going, but has walked six times against just one strikeout, good for a .421 on-base percentage. The 20-year-old has now walked in all four of his career games. …   Kasen Wells reached base two more times, extending his hitting streak to six game in which he is 11-for-25, with a pair of doubles and a triple with four walks and six steals. With Hightower on base in front of him all night, Wells didn’t have an opportunity to add to his organization-leading 20 stolen bases.  The 21-year-old is hitting .312/.414/.422 with 20 steals while only being caught once. … After Kaden Hollow failed to reach base for the first time since April 20 on Tuesday, he was back at it as the only player with a multi-hit game in this contest. The 24-year-old converted catcher has made the most of his first full season in Lake Elsinore, hitting .299/.411/.391 with 17 walks against only 12 strikeouts. It was his eighth multi-hit game of the season, a feat he accomplished only three times in 19 games for Lake Elsinore last year. … Coming off his career-best five shutout inning start, Maikel Miralles started with two hitless innings. Three pitches into the third inning, though, the righty hopped off the mound and immediately signaled for the trainer while pointing at his leg. He gingerly walked off the field with the trainer.  More information will be given when it becomes available, but hopefully, it is nothing serious for the 20-year-old from Venezuela.

ACL Padres had the day off. The complex league plays only five games a week with Wednesdays and Sundays off.
